Covid 19 has drastically changed our lives. As y'all know travel industries slowed or stopped. The roads are empty because of the lock down. The sound of traffic passing through my open window disappeared, delivery vehicles are pretty much limited and the crowd is less than normal. So what does that means for our environment?
Studies have been reported that the reduced levels of transportation has resulted in reduction of air pollution across many countries. If you consider London alone air pollution is held responsible for 9,400 deaths per year and globally up to 7 million people. One of the most important positive affect of the global lock down is that the Ozone Layer has started healing by itself which is very beneficial for our environment.Decrease in Nitrogen Dioxide has also been observed in China.
In Venice which is famous for its winding canal, water quality appears to be improved.Residents in the city said that the waterways are benefiting from the lack of usual boat traffic brought on by tourists who visits every year. The change has meanwhile offered locals clear view of small fish, crabs and multicolored plants.Making a better and clean environment for sea animals.
Due to less amount of people on the streets the amount of litter has reduced, making our environment clean and a safe place to live. The lock down has resulted in a lot of positive changes for our environment but will this changes last forever?probably not, after the lock down almost everything will come back to normal until unless we start to take care of our environment.
